We are super excited to share with you about the amazing Children’s outreaches we had in the remote villages of Nepal!!!
While in prayer about where to do our annual winter outreach this year, I immediately felt in my Spirit we needed to go to the needy children in the villages. The villages is where Hasten currently holds four literacy classes in four different villages. While helping people with reading and writing in Nepali, we also teach the people about the dangers of human trafficking. Our teachers serve as our eyes and ears in the community and help us show God’s love to those who are non-believers.
We got word that there were 30+ needy and orphaned children in these areas. They needed warm clothes, hats, socks, and backpacks for school. Our amazing team got everything together. After a long day of overland travel and about 3 1/2 hours of hiking on foot, we got to the villages.
The first village we went to had 12 kids.
The kids were so serious at first. No one was smiling. We figured you can’t have a children’s outreach without having some fun, so we broke the ice with playing a few games. The kids relaxed and had a great time! NOW they were smiling!
Using a dollar bill, Frank shared with them about their value and how much they matter to God. He used that metaphor to share how God sent His most precious gift of all Jesus Christ to give us life. They all bowed their heads giving their hearts and lives to Jesus. We prayed with them individually imparting words of affirmation over them. God’s love was falling on these guys so much! Some adults that came forward and asked for prayer as well, and our team shined as they prayed for them.
Our friend Lucas took the kids pictures using our camera and a polaroid camera so we could give the kids a picture of themselves. In this part of the world people don’t often have pictures. Their faces beamed when seeing their photo. They proudly held them out for us and everyone to see.
Some of these children are facing real hard times, from disfigurement, mental health issues, and physical health issues, but all we saw was a bunch of kids who the Father loved. He hadn’t forgotten them. He sends us to be an His extension of His love. What a joy it is! I’m always amazed at the Fathers overwhelming love for people no matter how remote or how far they are.
We gave everyone a warm meal, and hiked to our next village.
Our second outreach had 23 kids (A few extra slipped in which we always anticipate! Lol).
We had so much fun with these guys! They played the “banana relay” game, “balance the egg” relay game, and “duck duck goose.”
Sydney shared with them the exciting story of Daniel and the lions den using volunteers and the team to play out the different roles. She explained how God heard the prayers of Daniel and came to his rescue, and how they can also pray to the Lord for help and He will hear them.
I couldn’t help but think about that verse in the Bible:
Psalms 34:17 – The Lord hears His people when they call to Him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles.
God was indeed hearing these little ones cries for help! He’s such a good Father! I prayed with them, leading them to invite Jesus into their hearts. The team prayed over each of them, gave them their gifts, took their picture, and served them a warm meal.
Their faces lit up as they got their new backpacks with their new clothes inside. They put these on right away.
My heart broke as I met a few of the children who’d lost their moms and dads due to tragedy. These are the children who we’re currently looking to support by taking care of full time. We are believing God for $10,000 to do this. With that amount we can build our first host home, take care of their basic needs, and education for one year. If you want to read more about this project go here: Hasten Plans To Open Its First Host Home. If you want to give towards this please go here: https://www.hasten.tv/give
The outreach was an overwhelming success! We ended up giving to a total of 35 needy kids!
Thank you partners for helping us bring smiles to these precious faces! Trafficking is still a terrible act that is happening all over Nepal which is why we have to continue to effect change. As we take up for the poor and needy in their time of distress we truly make a difference!
This coming year we are looking to take in as many children as we possibly can, and we need your help to do it! Will you give $10 a month, or $20, or $30, or more? Any amount helps increase our budget which only helps us do more!
Whatever you can give don’t wait. Do it now. Together let’s Hasten the return of Jesus Christ by taking care of these little ones and by continuing to take the Gospel into all the world. Until all have heard….Matt 24:14.
Keep being awesome, keep investing in the spreading of the good news, and together lets be all in for the Gospel!
