““For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge and condemn the world [that is, to initiate the final judgment of the world], but that the world might be saved through Him.”
JOHN 3:16-17 AMP
God’s love is so ridiculous (inviting mockery; absurd) because we know that we do not deserve it and yet he gives it!
“When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”
Romans 5:6-8 NLT
They mocked Jesus (Mark 15:29-32) yet he stayed on the cross for us! (Hebrews 12:2)
God’s love is so relentless (unceasingly intense) because he won’t stop pursuing us even when we run from him!
“For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.””
Luke 19:10 NLT
God’s love is reckless (heedless of danger or the consequences of one’s actions) because he will do anything to see you safe in his home for eternity!
““The Son of Man must suffer many terrible things,” he said. “He will be rejected by the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He will be killed, but on the third day he will be raised from the dead.” Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.”
Luke 9:22-24 NLT
It cost Jesus his life. It has cost many others their life! Some have lost homes and family, but it is worth it! Eternity never ends, while this life does. In God’s view, the rescue of mankind is worth the risk!
Finally, God’s love is Radical (departure from tradition) because it goes against all our racism, tribalism, classism, or nationalism. God’s love is it only for a few born into special circumstances, but for the whole world!
“After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands. And they were shouting with a great roar, “Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne and from the Lamb!””
Revelation 7:9-10 NLT
This was a vision before the church was world-wide. Now we are living in that vision. God’s love has been patient and kept coming until the whole world knows! We must continue to take Christ love to the whole world!
